Standing like a sentinel on a hilltop, the Samode fort is one of the prime tourist attractions in the village of Samode in Rajasthan. During its original days, the fort was used as a residence by the royal family of the Rawals. Displaying a brilliant work of Mughal architecture, the Samode fort is quite reminiscent of the bygone era. History has it that the fort was also used at times of trouble. A secret passage right below the Samode Fort was constructed which basically provided escape to the royal members. This passage is still open and visitors can explore it during their visit to the Palace, on which the fort is built.
